Dr Sun Yat-sen Historical Trail, Historical walking route in Central District, Hong Kong.
The Dr. Sun Yat-sen Historical Trail is a walking route through Central and Sheung Wan districts marked by 16 bronze plaques embedded in sidewalks and handrails. The locations document places where revolutionary developments took shape and a movement against the old regime took form.
The trail was established in 1996 to honor the birthday of a revolutionary who developed his political ideas in Hong Kong. The route connects places linked to his efforts against the ruling dynasty.
The artworks at each marker point were created by local artists and connect historical events with contemporary creative expression. They show how the past remains visible in the city today.
The route is free to access throughout the year with no entry fees or registration required. Multiple subway stations and bus stops are located near the starting points and help you navigate easily through both districts.
A park along the route displays a concrete map showing all 16 marker points, letting visitors see the entire network at a glance. One of the more significant sites is the former headquarters of a historical organization on Staunton Street.
