Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences

The building was established as a bacteriological institute in 1906 following a plague outbreak in 1894 that devastated the Chinese residential area of Tai Ping Shan. The facility was created to address the urgent public health crisis the outbreak had revealed.

The museum traces how medical knowledge evolved from traditional Chinese practices to Western methods in Hong Kong's healthcare system. The displays show instruments and records that visitors can examine to understand this shift.
