Bonham Road, Main thoroughfare in Mid-Levels, Hong Kong, China.
Bonham Road is a main east-west thoroughfare spanning approximately 0.8 miles (1.3 kilometers) through the Mid-Levels area of Hong Kong Island, connecting Pok Fu Lam Road in the west near the University of Hong Kong and Caine Road in the east.
Named after Sir George Bonham, the third Governor of Hong Kong, the road was temporarily renamed Nishi-Taisho Dori during the Japanese occupation and has served as a significant route linking residential and institutional districts since its early development.
The road hosts multiple religious sites including the Chinese Rhenish Church, Hop Yat Church, and St. Anthony's Church, while being lined with heritage buildings such as the Fung Ping Shan building and the Main Building of the University of Hong Kong.
The road provides access to the MTR Sai Ying Pun station, the Sai Ying Pun Community Complex, and numerous schools including King's College, St. Paul's College, St. Stephen's Girls' College, and Bonham Road Government Primary School.
The road features the Bonham Road Flyover, a single-lane one-way overpass completed in 1973 that allows vehicles traveling north on Pok Fu Lam Road to turn east onto Bonham Road, facilitating traffic flow in this hilly district.
