Jackson Hole, Resort town between Huailai County and Yanqing District, China
Jackson Hole is a residential development in Hebei, China, built in the style of American mountain resorts and made up of around 1,000 houses. It sits in a valley between the Taihang and Yan mountain ranges, surrounded by forested slopes and natural terrain.
The Beijing Resplendency Great Exploit Real Estate Company finished the development in 2009, drawing inspiration from American resort towns such as Vail and the original Jackson Hole in Wyoming. The developer set out to bring Western living concepts to northern China.
Antler chandeliers, wood paneling, and decor drawn from the American West appear inside many homes and shared spaces. Walking through the streets, visitors quickly notice how different the setting looks compared to the surrounding Chinese towns.
The development sits in a mountain valley, so visitors should be ready for uneven ground and changes in elevation as they walk around. Spring and autumn tend to offer the most comfortable conditions for exploring on foot.
A Christian church was built at the center of the development as part of the original plan, making it one of the rare examples of this kind of religious building in the region. Its presence signals how deliberately every detail of the project was chosen to mirror a Western town.
