Kowloon True Light Middle School, Secondary school in Hong Kong
Kowloon True Light Middle School is a girls secondary school in the Kowloon Tong area of Hong Kong. The campus sits close to Kowloon Tong station and includes several buildings, among them a six-floor block completed in 2006.
The school was founded in 1945 as a small primary school in Guangzhou and moved to Hong Kong in 1949. It was the first girls school in South China and gradually grew into a secondary school over the following decades.
The school carries the motto 'Thou art the Light of the World' and encourages students to bring goodness to their community. Each year it selects different themes such as love, respect, and positive thinking to guide student focus and values.
The school is easy to reach by train since Kowloon Tong station is nearby and the surrounding neighborhood is well connected by public transport. As this is an active school, access for visitors is generally not available during school hours.
Students wear light blue cheongsam-style uniforms every day, which is uncommon among Hong Kong schools. The four house colors - red, green, purple, and blue - have rotated on a six-year cycle for more than 60 years.
