Shanghai Expo Park, Urban park in Pudong district, Shanghai, China.
Shanghai Expo Park is an urban park in Pudong along the Huangpu River, covering about two square kilometers with diverse landscapes and features. Gardens, waterways, and open spaces are connected by walking paths throughout the grounds.
The park developed from the transformation of the 2010 World Expo site, with four original pavilions from Russia, Italy, France, and Luxembourg remaining on the grounds. These buildings now serve as reminders of the international event.
The park blends Chinese and Western garden designs, with the Expo Stage hosting events throughout the year for visitors to enjoy. Walking through, you will notice how different sections reflect both garden traditions in their plantings and layout.
The park is accessible by Shanghai Metro Line 8, with Yaohua Road Station providing direct entry to the northeastern section. Plan for a leisurely visit since the grounds require considerable walking to experience fully.
The grounds are approximately ninety percent covered with thousands of trees as part of the Sponge City initiative to manage flooding. This extensive tree cover improves water quality while naturally managing rainfall drainage throughout the site.
