Germany Pavilion of Expo 2010, Exhibition pavilion at Shanghai World Expo 2010, China
The Germany Pavilion was a 6,000 square meter (64,583 square foot) building with a geometric design made from wooden slats and sustainable materials. Inside, a large LED sphere responded to visitor movements and connected different exhibition areas throughout the structure.
This structure represented Germany's largest exhibition at any world exposition and won first prize for theme development in 2010. It reflected the country's emphasis on sustainable technology and urban solutions during that period.
The pavilion displayed how German engineering shapes cities and improves daily life through interactive displays visitors could engage with directly. People learned about the relationship between technological thinking and urban environments.
Moving walkways guided visitors through different exhibition zones and made navigation easier throughout the building. The pavilion could accommodate up to 2,000 people daily during the six-month event.
A massive LED sphere inside responded directly to visitor movements and demonstrated the connection between people and urban spaces. This interactive installation showed how technical systems could react to human presence.
