The Xinhepu district contains 493 historic buildings featuring Western classical architecture with red brick walls and Republican-era stone finishes.
From 1923 to 1931, the Third National Congress of the Communist Party of China gathered in several buildings within the Xinhepu district.
The district represents a fusion of Chinese and Western architectural styles, with five prominent villas: Chunyuan, Kuiyuan, Jianyuan, Mingyuan, and Yuyuan.
Visitors can reach Xinhepu by taking bus lines 811 or 813 to Xinhepu Road station to explore the historic buildings and gardens.
The area spans 62.9 hectares and received the Asian Urban Landscape Award in 2019 for its architectural preservation and urban planning.
