Xinghai Concert Hall

Xinghai Concert Hall is a concert venue located on Ersha Island in Guangzhou with two main performance spaces. The larger hall seats approximately 1,500 people for orchestra performances, while the smaller hall accommodates around 460 people for chamber music and other intimate concerts, with additional rooms for smaller events and exhibitions.

The hall opened in 1998 as part of Guangdong Province's ambitious cultural development initiative. Its establishment marked a turning point for Guangzhou's cultural profile and helped position the city as a center for major musical events in the region.

Bronze statues of musicians from Eastern and Western traditions decorate the halls throughout the building. As you walk through the spaces, these sculptures create a sense of connection between different musical cultures and their contributions to the art form.

The venue is located on Ersha Island and can be reached via Qingbo Road with parking available nearby. It is best to check the performance schedule in advance and allow extra time to navigate the island location, especially during peak event times.

The building features a hyperbolic paraboloid shape that resembles both a flying swan and a grand piano. This curved design creates an organic connection between the architecture itself and the musical purpose of the space.
