Haiyin Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Guangzhou, China
Haiyin Bridge is a cable-stayed crossing over the Pearl River with two prominent towers supporting a single cable system. It connects Haizhu and Yuexiu districts with two lanes accommodating traffic in both directions.
The structure was completed in 1988 and replaced an earlier iron crossing from 1933. The original had been damaged during the 1930s and 1940s.
The crossing joins two neighborhoods and serves as a daily passage for residents moving between districts. It shapes how people experience the river and remains embedded in local routines.
The crossing is easiest to navigate during daytime and offers good views of the river from above. Lanes are clearly marked for safe passage.
The structure was the first modern crossing of the Pearl River in the city and transformed the riverfront landscape. Its construction marked a turning point in Guangzhou's modern development.
