CTF Finance Centre, Postmodern skyscraper in Zhujiang New Town, China
The CTF Finance Centre is a 530-meter tower with 111 floors above ground and 4 basement levels in the Zhujiang New Town district of Guangzhou. Its glass facades are interrupted by vertical terracotta elements that give the tower a warm tone.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place in July 2010, followed by a brief construction pause before the project was completed in October 2016. Since its completion, the tower has been among the tallest buildings in China.
The tower takes its name from Chow Tai Fook, a jewelry company whose headquarters occupy part of the building and reflect the connection between local business and contemporary design. Office workers and residents pass through the podium daily, where shops and cafés create a space that connects work, home, and leisure.
86 elevators connect the office floors with the apartments and the Rosewood Hotel on the upper levels, with the fastest cabins traveling at 21 meters per second. The view from the higher floors reaches the Pearl River and beyond on clear days.
Engineers integrated a square core with mega columns that correspond to outriggers and belt trusses, giving the building stability in a region with seismic activity. This construction solution allows the tower to reach its height without visible deformation during wind or earthquakes.
