Yangji Cun, Urban village in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, China.
Yangji Cun was a residential settlement in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, located between modern skyscrapers and retaining traditional structures from earlier times. The entire area was demolished in 2010 to make way for new development projects.
The settlement began as a traditional residential community in a rapidly developing city and became surrounded by high-rise construction over time. Its dissolution in 2010 marked Guangzhou's transition to a fully modern metropolis.
The settlement preserved traditional residential buildings while surrounded by modern urban expansion, showing the contrast between older and newer construction styles. This architecture reflected how residents lived and adapted within a rapidly changing city.
The area was accessible through a metro station that connected two major lines of Guangzhou Metro, making it a well-connected location. Though the settlement no longer exists, the transportation infrastructure remains in place.
Yangji Cun lives on beneath the ground through Yangji Metro Station, which carries the name of the vanished neighborhood. This allows visitors to remember this place even though the original settlement has long since disappeared.
