The Cao Family Compound spans 10,600 square meters with three main courtyards, fifteen smaller yards, and 287 rooms across multiple buildings.

Built during the Ming Dynasty and expanded through Qing Dynasty, this mansion belonged to the Cao family who accumulated wealth through trade networks.

The compound design follows traditional Chinese architecture principles with residential sections arranged in a pattern resembling the character for longevity.

The residence opens daily for tours, with guides explaining the architectural features and historical significance of different sections within the complex.

During the height of their success in the 19th century, the Cao family employed 37,000 people and possessed wealth equivalent to 12 million silver taels.
