Youth Square, Hong Kong

Youth Square is a fourteen-floor building near Chai Wan station that houses performance spaces, meeting rooms, exhibition areas, and accommodation facilities. The various sections enable events, workshops, and cultural activities all under one roof.

The Hong Kong government established this facility in 2008 to create a dedicated space for youth development and community engagement. It emerged from the recognition that young people needed special areas for learning, creativity, and social connection.

The Y Theatre and Y Studio serve as platforms where young artists regularly present performances, concerts, and exhibitions that shape the neighborhood's cultural life. Visitors can experience these artistic projects, which encourage creative exchange among emerging talents.

The Y Loft section offers 148 rooms with 24-hour front desk service, allowing visitors to stay on-site. The building also has a fitness center and restaurant, plus direct connections to public transportation for easy arrival.

An advisory board with representatives from the Youth Development Commission, Civic Education Committee, and Eastern District Council guides the facility's operations. This composition shows how local authorities, education experts, and community leaders collaborate to keep the facility functioning.
