Diamond Hill Columbarium, Columbarium building in Wong Tai Sin District, Hong Kong
Diamond Hill Columbarium is a multi-story crematorium building in Wong Tai Sin that houses niches for storing cremated remains. The spaces are connected by wide staircases and lifts, allowing smooth access through the different levels.
The crematorium was built in 2009 to respond to growing demand for ash storage facilities in space-limited Hong Kong. The project was carried out by the Architectural Services Department to address urban needs.
The building blends traditional Chinese remembrance practices with contemporary design, where families visit on specific occasions to make offerings and honor their deceased relatives.
Access is provided through multiple exits onto Po Kong Village Road with lifts and wide staircases for visitors with mobility limitations. Clear signage helps visitors navigate easily through the different floors.
The site features a meditation garden with a black granite compass and pine trees that bloom during memorial occasions. This quiet area offers visitors a place for reflection away from the main structures.
