Moon Lok Dai Ha, Public rental housing complex in Tsuen Wan District, Hong Kong
Moon Lok Dai Ha is a public rental housing complex in the Tsuen Wan District of Hong Kong, made up of four residential blocks set between Sha Tsui Road and Hoi Pa Street. Each block rises 11 floors and together they hold around 1000 apartments for families of different sizes.
The Hong Kong Housing Society built the four blocks between 1964 and 1965 on land reclaimed from the harbor. Between 2004 and 2006, major renovation work was carried out to upgrade the buildings and improve conditions for residents.
The four residential blocks carry traditional Chinese names: Fook Chi Lau, Chung Sum Lau, Hong Lok Lau, and On Ning Lau. This naming reflects local conventions and shapes how residents identify with their neighborhood.
The complex sits close to shops and bus routes, so getting there by public transport is straightforward. Visitors can walk through the open pathways between the blocks to get a sense of how the space is laid out.
The four blocks each carry a traditional Chinese name: Fook Chi Lau, Chung Sum Lau, Hong Lok Lau, and On Ning Lau. This kind of naming is common in Hong Kong housing estates and gives each block a distinct identity beyond its number.
