Jardim do Lago

Jardim do Lago is an urban park near Guia Hill that revolves around a central lake as its main feature. A network of walking paths circles the water, lined with trees, flower beds, and seating areas throughout.

The grounds once held Flora Palace, a residence from the Portuguese administration period. When control of the city changed, the site was transformed into a public park for community use.

The design blends Chinese garden principles with Portuguese influences, visible in the layout of pathways and plantings throughout the space. This mix appears in how water features, vegetation, and structures relate to each other.

The park is easy to reach by public transportation, with multiple bus routes serving the entrances. Walking is the best way to explore, and you should allow time to see all areas.

The grounds include an aviary and small zoo where you can watch different bird species and small animals. This makes it a good place to observe local and other animal life.
