Jardim do Lago, Urban park in Taipa, Macau, China

Jardim do Lago is an urban park near Guia Hill that revolves around a central lake as its main feature. A network of walking paths circles the water, lined with trees, flower beds, and seating areas throughout.

Built in 1982, Jardim do Lago takes its name from the small lake at its centre, once a government reserve for drinking water. The lake was later converted into an ornamental pond with a fountain that sprays to music. Beside the water are an old-style washing trough and a water mill, said to have been used by nearby residents to wash clothes.

The garden's name comes from its central pond, fed by streams running off the hill; the water was once held as a drinking-water reserve before being turned into an ornamental lake. A small fountain in the lake centre jets high and low in time with music.

The park sits on Estrada do Istmo in Taipa, at the entrance to the Taipa Grande Country Park, and is reached by bus routes 26, 30, 30X, 34, 35, 56 and MT3, which stop at T409 Jardim do Lago. From the garden's right side, Estrada do Padre Zezito climbs directly to the Taipa Grande trail.

Beside the pool sit an old-style washing trough and a stone water mill, said to be where nearby residents once washed clothes. The garden also marks the start of a hiking route: many walkers head up Rua do Padre Ze Xiong Situ on the right straight to the Taipa Grande trail.
