Kallstadt, Wine village in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.
Kallstadt is a municipality in the Bad Dürkheim district of Rhineland-Palatinate with half-timbered buildings and vintner courtyards along narrow lanes. The settlement spreads across gentle hills between vineyard plots and the first forest edges.
A document from the year 824 mentions the place as Cagelenstat, after a Frankish clan leader. Over the centuries, wine growing remained the main source of income for the inhabitants.
The settlement lies along the German Wine Route and keeps its vintner calendar with courtyard festivals during harvest time. Visitors see vineyards right at the edge of town and can sample regional grape varieties in the farmyards.
The place sits at roughly 134 meters elevation and offers marked hiking paths toward the Palatinate Forest. Parking is available in the town center, from where footpaths lead to the vineyard sites.
The Protestant church of Saint Salvator in the town center has a 36-meter tower with a recently renewed organ. The Heinz family supported the renovation through a donation.
