Vaihingen an der Enz, Municipality in Ludwigsburg District, Germany.
Vaihingen an der Enz is a town in Ludwigsburg District in Baden-Württemberg that spreads across approximately 73 square kilometers on both sides of the Enz River. Its character is marked by historic buildings and proximity to Kaltenstein Castle ruins, while its location between Stuttgart and Karlsruhe provides good transport connections.
The settlement was first documented in 1252 and received its town charter from Count Gottfried von Vaihingen, which promoted its growth as a trade and administrative center. Through this early recognition, the place developed into a regional center whose importance continues today.
The May Festival, celebrated here since 1687, stands among the oldest children's celebrations in Baden-Württemberg and takes place annually during Pentecost. These festivities shape the community's identity and draw visitors from across the region.
The town offers various accommodation options, from private apartments to guesthouses and hotels in different price ranges. Visitors find good footpaths in the center and can explore the infrastructure on foot, while public transportation also connects the surrounding areas.
The Haspelturm, a defensive tower from the 13th century, stands in the heart of the old town and still displays its medieval construction with thick stone walls. This tower is one of the oldest surviving structures and tells of the place's defensive past.
