Engelskirchen is a municipality in Oberbergischer Kreis situated in North Rhine-Westphalia at approximately 124 meters elevation, spanning several settlements across the landscape. The area comprises various districts that have developed over centuries.
The settlement was first documented in 1353 under the name Engellerskerken, establishing a long history of habitation in the region. In 1975, it merged with Ründeroth to form the municipality as it exists today.
