Altburg

The Altburg settlement contains preserved stone walls and foundations that demonstrate architectural methods used by the Treveri people in southern Germany.

Between 170 and 50 BC, the Celtic Treveri tribe constructed this fortification complex, which served as a defensive structure in the Hunsrück region.

The excavations at Altburg revealed numerous artifacts and structures that provide information about daily Celtic life and construction techniques in ancient Germany.

Visitors can access the open-air museum through guided tours, which include detailed explanations of the archaeological findings and Celtic settlement patterns.

The site maintains its original Celtic foundation layout, allowing researchers to study authentic settlement configurations from the Late Iron Age period.
