Führerbau, Historical building in Maxvorstadt, Munich, Germany.
The Führerbau is an administrative building in Munich's Maxvorstadt district featuring neoclassical design with symmetrical wings, grand staircases, and limestone facades. The structure displays spacious halls and a formal layout typical of government buildings from this architectural period.
The building was designed and constructed between 1933 and 1937 by architect Paul Troost. It gained prominence as the location where the Munich Agreement was signed in 1938, a document that reshaped European political relations.
The building now houses the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, where students and musicians work and perform daily. It has transformed from its political past into a space focused on artistic expression and education.
The building is accessible by public transportation, particularly via the nearby Königsplatz U-Bahn station, which connects directly to Munich's city center. Note that not all areas are open to visitors since the structure now operates as a university.
The building houses a congress hall that now functions as a concert venue, hosting numerous musical performances throughout the academic year. The hall's acoustics have been maintained, making it a preferred space for university concerts.
