Eriskircher Ried

Eriskircher Ried is a nature reserve along the Lake Constance shore between Friedrichshafen and Langenargen. It comprises meadows, wetlands, and alluvial forests that line the lakeshore.

The formation of this area traces back to the period of glacial movements, when massive ice masses shaped the landscape. The current terrain and habitats were molded by geological processes after the ice retreated.

The Nature Center displays photographs of bird species and other animals that inhabit the reserve. Visitors can observe how habitats have shifted over time.

The area has two well-marked walking trails that help visitors explore different sections of the reserve. The paths are flat and relatively accessible, suitable for a leisurely walk along the shore.

Water levels naturally fluctuate throughout the year, forcing plants and animals to adapt to these changes. Regular mowing of the meadows is also crucial for maintaining the diverse plant and animal life in this place.
