Festeburgkirche, Modern church in Preungesheim district, Frankfurt, Germany
Festeburgkirche is a modern church building in Frankfurt's Preungesheim district, constructed with concrete, brick, glass, and oak parquet flooring. The carefully chosen materials create excellent acoustic conditions for musical performances and worship services.
The building was designed by architects Horst Römer and Helmut Baumgart and opened in 1969. It emerged during a period when Frankfurt needed new churches to serve its expanding neighborhoods.
The church serves as a venue for chamber music concerts organized by the Friends of Sacred Music Preungesheim association. Several musical groups and choirs gather here regularly, shaping the neighborhood's cultural life.
Sunday worship services take place in the morning, and the building has professional recording facilities. Its excellent acoustic properties make it a preferred location for music recordings by broadcasting companies and record labels.
The concrete glass windows were designed by Johannes Schreiter and merge architecture with contemporary glass art. These windows are a notable example of how modern artists reinterpreted sacred spaces.
