The state representation office moved from Bonn to Berlin following the German government relocation, leading to a 1997 architectural competition for its new building.
The building regularly updates its art exhibitions every two to three years, displaying works that represent the northern German state of Schleswig-Holstein.
The facility shares its premises with Lower Saxony's state representation and maintains direct connections to specialized ministries in Kiel for Bundesrat sessions.
The building's rear section faces the Holocaust Memorial, while its surroundings include six other German state representation offices.
