Kleinbahn im Westfalenpark, Miniature railway in Westfalenpark, Dortmund, Germany
The miniature railway at Westfalenpark is a narrow-gauge train that winds through the park on a single-rail loop. The track stretches about 2700 meters and connects two main stations with one additional stopping point.
The railway opened in 1959 for the Federal Garden Show and still follows its original route today. The line has remained a lasting feature of the park and continues to operate regularly.
The locomotive designs take inspiration from the Porsche 356, incorporating components from the DKW 3=6 automobile to give them a distinctive look. This blend shows how craftsmanship and automotive history come together in miniature form.
The trains run from May through December, departing about every 30 minutes from morning until early evening. Service may be suspended or delayed during bad weather.
Five train sets, each with one battery-powered locomotive and three passenger cars, transport visitors through different park areas. These electric-powered trains allow for quiet and clean operation throughout the season.
