Schloss Metternich, Manor house in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, Germany.
Schloss Metternich is a two-story baroque manor with a hipped roof and asymmetrical facade in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler. The building displays eight window axes on its front and an oval window set in the gable area.
The water castle was first documented in 1617 under the ownership of the Counts of Manderscheid-Blankenheim. In 1736 Franz Josef Wolff-Metternich acquired the property, which then bore his family name.
The facade displays ornate window cornices and an elaborate portal that convey the refined taste of its former owners. These decorative elements still communicate the aristocratic standing of the residence.
The property is located at Burgstraße 30 in the Heppingen district and is easily accessible by car. The surrounding area has parking options and its proximity to the old town makes it a convenient stop during walking tours.
The building underwent structural changes over time that created its asymmetrical appearance, with one axis added on the left and two on the right. These uneven expansions give the manor its distinctive and irregular profile.
