Winterpalais, Palace in Gotha, Germany.

The Winterpalais stood as a neoclassical city residence, constructed in 1822 with prominent architectural elements defining the urban landscape of Gotha.

The palace served as a residence for Duchess Caroline Amalie of Hesse-Kassel until her death in 1848, after which state ministers occupied the building.

Prince Albert commissioned watercolor paintings of the interior rooms following the death of his grandmother, documenting the palace's historical appearance.

The structure underwent demolition in 2010, leading to the construction of the Heinrich Heine City Library, which opened in 2014 at the same location.

The building transformed from a noble residence to a publishing house for the Thuringian newspaper and later became the headquarters of East Germany's Das Volk newspaper.
