Johannes-Müller-Denkmal, Cultural heritage monument at Jesuitenplatz, Koblenz, Germany.
The Johannes-Müller-Denkmal is a bronze statue mounted on a granite pedestal at Jesuitenplatz in Koblenz. The inscription displays Müller's name and life dates, with the sculpture created by artist Joseph Uphues.
The monument was unveiled on October 7, 1899, with Rudolf Virchow delivering the opening remarks during the ceremony. The inauguration honored Müller's groundbreaking work in medicine and anatomy.
The memorial honors Johannes Müller's impact on medical science and his ties to Koblenz. Sculptor Joseph Uphues created the bronze figure to celebrate the naturalist's connection to the city.
The monument sits in the center of Jesuitenplatz in front of Koblenz City Hall and is easy to locate. Access is somewhat limited since the surrounding area is not fully wheelchair accessible.
After World War II, the statue was moved to Südallee due to traffic concerns. It returned to its original location in 1986 following the pedestrianization of the square.
