Egelsee, Artificial lake at Wartberg, Stuttgart, Germany.

Egelsee is an artificial lake in Stuttgart's Wartberg district with a rectangular main basin connected to two circular ponds at different elevations. These water bodies together create a stepped system that flows between the various levels.

The water system was built from 1992 to 1993 as part of the International Garden Show 1993. Sculptor Hans Dieter Bohnet shaped the project with his water sculptures and design elements.

The north shore features manicured lawns and tree clusters that invite visitors to rest and linger. The southern side keeps a more natural character with reeds and wild shrubs, giving the lake a balanced feel.

The lake is accessible by tram from the Löwentorbrücke stop or by local bus lines. The water features and fountains typically operate from mid-May through mid-October.

Multiple streams converge at Kunststation Grottenloch and flow through cascade-like basins called Krebsschwanz before reaching the main lake. This hidden corner reveals the clever water engineering that feeds the entire system.
