CloudNo7, High-rise hotel and residential building in Stuttgart-Mitte, Germany
Cloud No. 7 is an 18-storey high-rise in Stuttgart's Europaviertel, 61 metres tall. Its first six floors house the Jaz in the City hotel, opened in January 2018; above are 50 apartments of 30 to 70 square metres and 19 freehold flats of 100 to 300 square metres. A 500-square-metre penthouse occupies the roof level, and the sixth floor has a roof terrace with a bar. The facade has curved glass and metal parapets designed by tec Architecture.
In 2008 the Berlin office Grüntuch Ernst Architekten won the competition for the site; the American firm tec Architecture designed the curved glass and metal balustrades of the facade. The building application was filed in February 2013 and construction began that September. The topping-out ceremony took place on 8 May 2015, and the hotel rooms opened in January 2018.
The name CloudNo7 references its proximity to the clouds, emphasizing the building's notable height. Visitors and residents experience it as a modern center that combines hotel services and residential living in a single structure.
The hotel occupies the first six floors and is easily accessible, while residential units are located in the upper sections. Both areas benefit from the central location with good connections to public transport and nearby urban amenities.
The sixth-floor terrace with bar belongs to the hotel, not to the public, so the views over Stuttgart are reserved for guests and residents. Above it, a 500-square-metre penthouse occupies the top level. The building stands 61 metres tall, 20 centimetres lower than the neighbouring LBBW building but higher in elevation, so it overtops it.
