The building was originally constructed in 1866 as a synagogue for the Jewish community. It was severely damaged during the November 1938 pogroms and subsequently abandoned.

The building became a place of worship for Jehovah's Witnesses after 1954, serving as their meeting place today. This transformation shows how structures can serve different communities across generations.

A memorial plaque from 1997 on the exterior wall documents the building's history as a former synagogue. This marker helps visitors understand the site's complex past at a glance.

Before its destruction in 1938, the building served as a temporary collection point for Jewish residents awaiting forced deportation. This dark chapter makes the location a somber reminder of that era.
