Marienkirche

Marienkirche is a Catholic church in Oberhausen characterized by twin towers that rise prominently above the surrounding area. The interior houses a substantial pipe organ with multiple registers, created using traditional organ-building methods.

The first church on this site was built in 1857, but it was replaced by the current building in 1894 as the city expanded and the parish needed more space. This newer structure became the central religious hub for the growing Catholic community.

The church maintains an organ with 40 registers across three manuals, incorporating Alsatian organ-building elements for enhanced musical performances.

The church is centrally located between two major streets and accessible by public transportation. Visitors should know that interior access may be limited during services or special events.

The altar area contains two marble blocks housing reliquaries of martyrs, complemented by a bronze sculptural work depicting religious figures. This artistic element blends historical devotion with sculptural craftsmanship.
