Altes Rathaus, Historic town hall in Mannheim, Germany.
The Altes Rathaus features a baroque double building structure with a bell tower positioned between the town hall and St. Sebastian Church.
The foundation stone for the new town hall was laid on September 17, 1700, following the destruction of the original 1607 building in the great city fire of 1689.
The interior decorations, completed in 1717 by stucco artist Giovanni Battista Clerici, demonstrate the German-Italian architectural influences of the early 18th century.
Located on the southern edge of the marketplace in district G 1, the Altes Rathaus maintains its position as a central landmark in Mannheim's urban layout.
The building incorporates the Giant Portal created by sculptor Michael Bitterich in 1711, along with a Justice figure crafted by Heinrich Charrasky in 1709.
