Talbrücke Rinsdorf, Highway bridge in Wilnsdorf, Germany
Talbrücke Rinsdorf is a highway bridge on the A45 near Wilnsdorf that crosses the Heckenbach valley. The new structure has six lanes plus hard shoulders and replaces an older construction from the 1960s.
The original bridge was completed in 1967 and served traffic on the A45 for more than five decades. Due to structural damage, it was demolished in 2022 through a controlled explosion and replaced by a new structure.
The bridge carries the A45, one of the main routes connecting the Ruhr area to southern Germany, over the Heckenbach valley. For many commuters and truck drivers, this corridor is a regular part of daily life.
The bridge is part of the A45 and can only be accessed by traveling along that motorway; stopping or leaving the vehicle is not allowed. Those wishing to view the structure from outside can find some vantage points in the area around Wilnsdorf.
The 2022 demolition was one of the few cases in Germany where a highway structure of this height was brought down with explosives. The event drew many spectators, as controlled demolitions on this scale are rarely seen.
