Grasbrookpark, Public park in HafenCity, Hamburg, Germany
Grasbrookpark is a green space in HafenCity situated between the Marco-Polo-Terraces and the Überseequartier U-Bahn station. It contains grass areas, trees, wooden benches, fitness equipment, and water features arranged throughout the site.
The site began as a temporary playground in summer 2008 while U-Bahn Line 4 was under construction. It took several more years before it received its current form once the surrounding infrastructure was completed.
The space reflects how the local community shaped its design through input from nearby children and families. Play areas and planted sections show the influence of those who use it daily.
The park is directly accessible from the U-Bahn station, making it easy to reach and visit. Visitors can use the various seating areas and facilities regardless of the season, though outdoor conditions will vary with the weather.
Living hedges shaped like ships divide different areas of the park while blocking views of the surrounding traffic. This unusual design combines landscaping with the creation of quieter zones within the busy neighborhood.
