Savannah Region, Administrative region in northern Ghana.
The Savannah Region spreads across multiple districts with Damongo as its capital, containing grasslands and river systems that support agricultural activities.
Following a 2018 referendum, the region was established in 2019 through a division of the Northern Region to improve local governance efficiency.
Multiple ethnic groups, including the Gonja people, maintain their languages, ceremonies, and traditional practices throughout the seven administrative districts.
The region connects to other parts of Ghana through a network of roads, with primary economic activities centered on agriculture and livestock farming.
Census data from 2021 indicates a population growth to 653,266 residents, marking substantial demographic changes since the previous count of 469,510 in 2010.
