Pandosia

Pandosia is an ancient settlement perched on a hilltop in the Preveza area with visible ruins from the Classical period. The remains show building foundations and fortification walls that outline the former settlement's layout.

The settlement was founded around the 8th century BC and served as an active trade junction in Epirus. Its growth was tied to the region's prosperity before it was eventually abandoned.

The community served as a hub for commerce and religious gatherings across the ancient Epirus region. Local inhabitants honored deities connected to water and protection, as the recovered objects reveal.

The site is accessible during daylight hours and can be reached via regional roads from Preveza. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear since the terrain is uneven and excavations are partly exposed to the elements.

The site displays traces of a sophisticated water distribution system that protected inhabitants from drought. Such technical solutions were uncommon in this period and region, revealing the knowledge of ancient engineers.
