Côtes-d'Armor, Administrative department in Brittany, France
The northern department of Brittany extends along the English Channel coast with four main districts: Dinan, Guingamp, Lannion, and Saint-Brieuc.
Created on March 4, 1790 during the French Revolution, this territory changed its name from Côtes-du-Nord to Côtes-d'Armor in 1990.
The department maintains strong connections to Breton heritage through its language usage, with Breton spoken in the west and Gallo in the east.
Saint-Brieuc serves as the administrative center of the department, coordinating services and governance for 373 communes across 6,878 square kilometers.
The department features three distinct hill ranges forming a natural watershed between rivers flowing toward the English Channel and Atlantic Ocean.
