Quartier de la Porte-Saint-Martin, Administrative quarter in 10th arrondissement, Paris, France

The Porte-Saint-Martin district spans 60.9 hectares between Boulevard de Strasbourg and Rue Bichat, featuring the Canal Saint-Martin and numerous historical buildings.

Named after the Saint-Martin gate, this area was known as quartier Saint-Martin-des-Champs during the 18th century due to its proximity to Saint-Martin-des-Champs priory.

The Saint-Laurent Church, dating from the 6th century and rebuilt multiple times, stands as a historical monument with neo-gothic architecture from the 19th century.

The district contains several educational institutions, including schools on Passage des Récollets and Rue de Lancry, accessible via metro lines 3, 5, and 8.

A former branch of the Seine River once flowed through what is now Rue du Château-d'Eau, leaving behind fertile soil that influenced early settlement patterns.
