Punta del Diamante, Mountain summit in Bavella, Corsica, France
Punta del Diamante is a summit in the Bavella range that rises to 1160 meters and features steep granite faces. Several climbing routes wind through dense vegetation and lead climbers to the peak.
The Democratia route was established in 1988 by J.P. Quilici and D. Trecul and introduced advanced technical climbing grades to the area. This classic route shaped how climbers later approached the mountain.
This summit is part of the Regional Natural Park of Corsica and draws hikers who appreciate the raw granite formations and established trails. The location remains meaningful to local climbers who value preserving its natural character.
Two main entry points serve visitors: Bocca d'Illarata and the D368 road parking area. Both connect to trails leading upward with roughly 300 meters of elevation gain to reach the summit.
The mountain contains multiple streams and ravines carved by water erosion that create distinct navigation challenges for climbers. These watercourses shift seasonally and influence how routes feel and flow.
