Pointe des Verres

The Pointe des Verres is a mountain summit in the Bornes-Aravis range located between La Clusaz and La Giettaz. It rises above surrounding terrain with steep slopes on multiple sides and commands views across neighboring valleys from its top.

This peak has served as a natural boundary between the valleys of La Clusaz and La Giettaz since medieval times. The geographical separation influenced how the two neighboring communities developed over the centuries.

The slopes around this peak reflect Alpine farming traditions where herds move between different elevations with the seasons. Visitors can still see the pastures and simple shelters that shape these mountain practices today.

The hike starts from the Balme parking area and follows marked trails through changing landscapes as you climb. Bring layers and weatherproof gear since mountain conditions can shift quickly at higher elevations.

The northwest face of the mountain faces strong prevailing winds while the southern side is sheltered and creates different conditions. These contrasts shape which plants grow on each slope and affect the hike experience.
