Passerelle himalayenne de la Croix de Chamrousse

The Himalayan-style footbridge at Croix de Chamrousse is a steel structure spanning 120 meters that links two mountain peaks at approximately 2220 meters elevation. The narrow walkway, measuring 1.5 meters wide, traverses a mountain corridor in the French Alps.

The bridge opened in December 2022 as part of a tourism development initiative by Montagne et Neige Développement in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The project aimed to enhance the mountain experience at Chamrousse.

The bridge functions as part of the Panoramic Park experience, where visitors encounter orientation markers and mountain vistas while moving through alpine terrain. It serves as a gathering point where people pause to take in the surroundings.

Access requires the La Croix gondola from Chamrousse 1650, which operates daily during summer and winter seasons, though weather can affect service. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and be prepared for changing mountain conditions.

The bridge crosses a mountain corridor that transforms into a black ski run during winter, allowing skiers to pass beneath the structure. This creates an unusual dual-use arrangement within a single alpine corridor.
