Grande Lance de Domène

Grande Lance de Domène is a mountain summit in the Belledonne range that rises to 2,790 meters (9,154 feet) above sea level. The peak features granite rock formations and offers several different routes for climbers of varying skill levels.

The mountain was documented in French Alpine Club guides starting in the early 1900s. These records became important references for climbers exploring routes throughout the Belledonne range.

The summit serves as a meeting point for mountaineering groups who gather annually to share experiences and maintain the traditional climbing routes.

Climbing this peak requires mountaineering experience and proper equipment such as crampons and ice axes, especially in snowy conditions. Several starting points in the Pré Long area offer access to different routes up the mountain.

The north ridge route combines technical climbing sections with a steep couloir before reaching expansive views across the entire Belledonne range. This path is less commonly used than standard approaches and gives climbers a more varied experience.
