Tusheti National Park

Located in the East Caucasus Mountains, Tusheti National Park encompasses 83,007 hectares of alpine meadows, glaciers, and rivers at elevations between 900 and 4,800 meters.

The Parliament of Georgia established Tusheti National Park in 2003 with support from the Global Environment Facility and World Bank through the Protected Areas Development Project.

Local communities maintain traditional sheep farming practices, producing specialized products such as Tush sheep, Tush horses, and handcrafted textiles including rugs and felt items.

The park administration building provides accommodations, a cafeteria, and a visitor center with exhibition halls for planning tours across 11 established tourist routes.

Between October and June, mountain villages become inaccessible by road, leaving only dozens of inhabitants in their homes during the winter months.
