Skete of Prophet Elijah, Orthodox monastery in Mount Athos, Greece

The Skete of Prophet Elijah contains three chapels, a main church built in 1903, and living quarters for twelve Greek monks.

Ukrainian monk Paisius Velichkovsky established the monastery in 1757, leading a group of Moldavian and Ukrainian monks to settle in this location.

The monastery maintains an extensive library of religious texts and houses two notable religious icons that draw pilgrims to the location.

Male visitors must obtain a special permit called diamonitirion to enter the monastery, as Mount Athos follows strict access regulations.

The monastery received substantial financial support from Russian czars until 1903, enabling the construction of its current building complex.
