Halistenkoski, Rapids near River Aura in Turku, Finland
The Halistenkoski Rapids feature a seven-meter drop over a hundred-meter stretch, creating dynamic water movements along the River Aura.
Since 1923, the rapids have supported Turku's waterworks facility, which previously extracted 45,000 cubic meters of water daily for the city's needs.
The Miller's House, converted into the River Aura Information Centre, maintains the connection between the rapids and the traditional fishing practices.
Visitors can obtain fishing permits, rent canoes, and access information about water activities at the River Aura Information Centre near Halinen bridge.
A fish ladder constructed in 1995 enables salmon species to navigate upstream through the rapids for spawning purposes.
