Nutjak

Nutjak is a stone fortress ruin perched on a cliff about 339 meters (1,112 feet) above the right bank of the Cetina River, overlooking the surrounding landscape. The remains include a circular tower and standing walls that display the medieval fortification methods used in this area.

The fortress was built in the early 16th century by a local ruler to defend the northern border of a regional principality against external threats. It served as a key defensive point during the conflicts and struggles of that era.

The stone structure displays military architecture typical of the period, with remains that reveal how builders constructed fortifications in this region. Walking around the site, visitors can see the practical layout of the fortification and understand how people adapted to this remote location.

The site is accessible via a marked hiking trail that branches off from the main road in the area. The walk to the ruins takes about 15 minutes uphill, so wearing sturdy shoes and bringing water is recommended.

The ruin earned a somber name in local memory due to the harsh conditions faced by soldiers stationed there during conflicts. The remote clifftop location made it a particularly demanding place to survive, even in times of peace.
