Sinjsko Polje

Sinjsko Polje is a flat karst field in Split-Dalmatia that stretches across a wide area shaped by river channels and agricultural land. The landscape features grain cultivation and is home to several small settlements connected by bridges and roads.

The field formed through karst geology and was shaped over centuries by water that regularly flooded and receded with the seasons. These natural inundations created pastureland where livestock could graze, supporting the region's pastoral traditions.

The settlements scattered across the field have developed a way of life closely tied to agriculture and water management. Locals have long adapted their daily routines to the seasonal patterns of the landscape.

The area is easily accessible by car with multiple crossing points over the river for through traffic. During wetter months some roads can become muddy, so caution is advisable if you plan to explore the back roads and farming tracks.

The field is crisscrossed by several tributary streams feeding into the main river, creating a complex water network that sustains the land. This intricate system of waterways makes the area rich in wildlife and particularly valuable for farming.
