Gundulićs, Market square in Old Town, Croatia
The square features a statue of Ivan Gundulić surrounded by red and white market umbrellas where vendors display local produce and goods.
Following the 1667 earthquake that destroyed previous buildings, this area was transformed into a square, later receiving a statue of poet Gundulić in 1893.
Bronze reliefs at the base of Gundulić's monument depict scenes from his epic poem Osman, representing Dubrovnik's struggles with Ottoman and Venetian powers.
The market operates six days per week from 7 AM, offering fresh fish, vegetables, fruits, regional cheese, and local products to both residents and visitors.
The Amerling fountain stands within the square, donated by its namesake benefactor as a lasting contribution to this commercial center.
